Medieval Carcassonne

After our 24 hour Wi-fi blackout in Nimes, two posts will hopefully appear today.

On a bleak and cold Easter Sunday ( we can't wish for beautiful weather everyday!), we headed for the beautiful Medieval town of Carcassonne. It is easy to see why movie directors choose this place for medieval themed movies as you feel like you have stepped back in time once inside the ramparts of the old city.

Outside the walls of the old city of Carcassonne

The cobblestone lane ways meander through the shops and restaurants housed in original medieval buildings. At the top of the hill lies the castle with high walls and towers looking out over the town of Carcassonne. Some thought the streets looked like a Harry Potter set, while others zeroed in on an amazing looking lolly store with all sorts of imaginable sweets.

Happy 16th birthday to Stefanie - certainly one to remember!
